I sure could use some advice on buying a 19" LCD display for my computer.

I have learned to look at response time/ contrast ratio/and brightness,

I use this primarily for gaming. I dont really have a price limit, but would expect to pay around the $500 range for one with DVI out .

I was impressed with Sonys new model mainly for the looks and the brightness levels, and then again I have yet to se this model from Samsung its called the syncmaster 193p+ which has a 1000:1 ratio, and a 8ms response timel.

Spinal Tap,

One monitor you would be very happy with is the:

HYUNDAI L90D+ Silver 19" 8ms LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 700:1 Built in Speakers 0.294mm Pixel Pitch

It is a monitor that will handle FPS without any ghosting.

Since it is not widescreen, you will not have problems with games stretching either.

Take Care,

I picked up this monitor last night for $499 after rebate http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/n...prod_id=DE19PS

It was an incredible picture , run with a DVI cable, but I had soooo many issues, and still cant figure out why, this thing just did not want to run with my video card, the software it came with locked up my system , so that had to be uninstalled, and well, after 6 hours of loading the newest drivers and then rolling back drivers , I got on with Samsung for an hour and we just couldnt figure this one out.(it shouldnt be this hard to plug in a plug and play monitor)lol

It wouldnt play video right either. So I took it back tonight, and am a bit disturbed! I welcome any advice...lol

I am running Xp home edition, and my vid card is an Nvidia 5600 FX/w 256 ram and it has RGB/and DVI outputs.

Boy I hope I get this figured out , cause now Im back to using my old 19"crt, and compared to the Samsung. lets just say its ugly.

Hey SpinalTap, I have the Nvidia 5700 FX/256MB , windows XP of course, and I have the Hyundai L90D+ monitor. I absolutely love it. Price is right too.

No problems hooking it up, running thru DVI cable to the Nvidia card...

Great monitor for the price.... ;)

Is there a big (or noticeable) difference between an RGB connection and DVI connection on the Hyundai L90D monitor? My current video card is RGB-only.

I did call Samsung we were on the phone for about an hour working on the issue,i learned alot, but in the end decided it was just too much hassle, so I returned the monitor, and am seriously considering a tryout of the hyundia, or a dell wide aspect.

I have heard enough , I will once again go with the advice, so I ordered the hyundia. I hope its a simple plug and play monitor. I didnt really need the speakers, but oh well. I was going to go with the dell 20" wide aspect, but decided I didnt want to deal with streching and any other issue that pops up with a widescreen , not to mention the big DELL across the front ...blah. So i save $250 bucks to put towards something else.

So thanks for the heads up death!

Well ill post tonight , because I am impressed with the picture quality and detail.

It is nearly a mirror image of the Samsung 193P+, the screen and bezel look identical, the only minus would be the stand compared to the sammy, is more plastic and lower quality, the sammy was aluminum and very fancy , but it is hardly a negative.

I do however have a problem , I seem to be playing BF2 quite a bit lately , and after getting the monitor hooked up I loaded BF2 and got sound but no picture , just black screen? The only difference is I went from Analog to digital , and I was running my resolution at 1024x768, now im at the monitors native 1280x1024?

Anyone know what could be the issue?

FYI I tried upgrading the vid card driver, to no avail (Nvidia 5600FX 256 ram)
