Just wondering if anyone has heard of LCOS technology to be used in 3 panel projectors at XGA and wide-SXGA resolutions that should be compatable to DILA, but much cheaper. Although products are not widely available in the market yet, they should start appearing 4q this year.

RCA announced an LCOS based RPTV at CES this past January. They are calling it the L50000 and it will utilize a 1280x720p LCOS imaging device. It is supposed to be released late summer and will be priced in the $6k to $8k range. Haven't heard about any front projectors using the technology, though.

DILA uses one form of the generic LCOS (Liquid Crystal On Silicon) technology. This is not a new technology though the new players may create devices through new or different manufacturing processes from JVC's. When these competing LCOS panel suppliers arrive (erasing JVC's current monopoly), I would expect JVC's products to 1) drop in price and/or 2) move to higher resolutions to meet the challenge.
