I have an old Proxima DP 6850 that I bought from someone and it doesn't have a lens cap. I tried calling AskProxima and they don't stock replacements and suggested I try Projector Doctor. They can't get one either and the rep I spoke to said some people use the bottom of a Pringles can.

There are a bunch of camera lens caps on ebay. Would one of these or some kind of generic work? Or does someone around here have one they wouldn't mind selling me? Alternatively are there any other websites, forums etc I might try to find one?

There are 2 rings on the lens housing (plastic that the lens fits in) or whatever it's called. The smaller one on the edge, which I'm assuming the lens cap fits on is about 9 cm or 3 9/16 inches in diameter.

Thanks

Why do you want a lens cap? Are you planning on transporting your PJ often? I haven't used mine in 3 1/2 years.

Thanks for the reply. The reason is because I have 5 roommates and since the projector stand is on the living room table I want to make sure they don't damage the lens on accident.

Ah! In that case, I would get a wooden or steel box to protect the whole PJ!

I've done some more research and it looks like one of these might be a good solution:

or: http://optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=16#

The Lenscoat Hoodie looks like it might be better since it has a removable disc for more protection. Has anyone ever used these?

I measured the lens housing dimensions:

lens housing diameter: 3 10/16”

lens housing depth: 1 14/16”

Hopefully it would fit on since there's not much depth to the lens housing.
