I'm an RPTV guy moving (albeit slowly) to FPTV.

Bottom line here's what I've got planned:

12' from screen to projector - ceiling mount planned

~100" screen (48 x 87")

Vertical:

Projector lens 8" from ceiling

Top of screen needs to be 11" below ceiling to dodge soffit/duct enclosure

Required Vertical Shift = (48"/2) - 8" + 11+ = 27" down (57% of screen height)

Horizontal:

Projector lens 15" from center line of desired screen center line

Required Horizontal Shift = 15" (17% of screen width)

Does this seem feasible with any sort of

Yes, the Epson 400 or the Sanyo Z5. They both cost less than the AX100 and have more lens shift (and are reported to throw a sharper image). They also have longer warranties. The Z5 has the less brightness (lumen output) but for a 100" screen, it should work (as long as you use a screen with a gain of 1.0 or more).

You are correct in not wanting to use PJ tilt and keystone correction, as that will decrease the useable resolution (increase distortion) of the picture.

Thanks for the reply.

Now all I need is a good shoot-out article between these three projectors. Anyone know of any sites?

Any other projector recommendations - perhaps closer to my $3k limit that would meet my lens shift requirements?

Thanks!
