Lesser Evil in living room tv

I was all ready to get an LG cx 65" and then I saw the banding issue. I have been bitten by bad tech in the past and don't want to go down that road again. I have a 12 year old 55" Samsung that still works like it was new. I keep all my electronics on APC units. Now using sine wave backups now that they don't cost a kings ransom. My youngest son has a TCL 6 series 65" and it looks very good. As a former owner of a 40" Sony crt that could not produce red because of Sony's phosphor choice that put me back $3000, I ended up taking a hammer and breaking it up and dumpstering it. Just looking for a good all around tv with really good black levels. Just want something that I won't wish that I never bought every time it gets used.
