I read the beginning of the "Future Proof Reciever" thread and know that I want a level 6 receiver. The only thing I'm not sure of is, when they say 1700 models and up; does that mean just the 1700 and the 2700? Or 1700, 2500, 2600 and 2700? Also I'm assuming that doesn't include the HTR models? Thanks!

That list is not a complete list and there may be more receivers, which may be level6. There are not whole lot of info available for most of the receivers and as members here test and confirm, list gets updated.

Yamaha model 2600 is last year's w/HDMI 1.1 (no 1080p). Model 2500 is 2 years old and no HDMI at all.

Looks like the HTR-6090 might pass also. Specs say HDMI 1.2a.


Looks like a good price also. I'll have to consider that and the 1700 I think...

just want to clairfy something... this is not meant to imply that HDMI 1.1 does not support 1080p. only that the yamaha 2600 does not support it.


i checked the hdmi wikipedia entry and found this:

"HDMI 1.0


Released December 2002.


* Single-cable digital audio/video connection with a maximum bitrate of 4.9Gbps. Supports up to 165Mpixels/sec video (1080p60Hz or UXGA) and 8-channel/192kHz/24-bit audio."


and i checked the specs on the yamaha 2600 and found that it does not support 1080p.
