Lexicon DC-1 Power Control Trigger

862 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Buzz Goddard
I would like to connect the trigger DC trigger from my Lex to my parasound amp. Back of lex has 5-pin din with pins labeled as the following:

1=ground

2=ground

3=Power On

4=Unused

5=Trigger (programmable)

My amp on the back has 4 phillips screws, with the middle 2 screws labeled +12Vdc & ground. I bought a 5-pin din cable and cut off one end, I identified the wires to the corresponding pins. Now can someone please tell me how to connect it up? There are 5 wires and 2 labeled connections on my amp. I assume the 2 outer screws are the grounds?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Ira

Use either ground pin (1 or 2) to the ground connection on your amp.

Use pin 3 from the DC-1 to the 12Vdc connection on the amp.

I tried setting it up in the above way with no positive results, in fact no results at all. The Lex didn't trigger the amp. I went into the Lex setup and enabled trigger. My amp manual states the amp needs to be in the off position, no results. Any suggestions.

Thanks,

Ira
Got a volt meter? You should check that there is 12-14 volts between ground and pin three. Pin 3, btw, should give voltage whenever the unit is on, it is pin 5 that must be programmed.

If you are getting 12-14v, then the problem lies with the amp. If not, well the output of the triggers on the DC-1 were notorious for blowing if they were asked to deliver too much current. If that's the case, you could try pin 5.

If it still isn't working, you might think about investing in a Panamax protector like that can be triggered by 12v (surge protection is a good idea for your gear anyhow).
