I have an LG 37LC2D-UE, recently the tv would not show a picture... I get sound but absolutely no picture.

The thing is... the backlight comes on just fine, then sound comes (although its not as normal as when the tv actually works).

I also noticed that the power LED blinks 10 times and then the backlight and sound comes in.

I called LG and they tried to help me over the phone...they gave me a way to reset the TV, which did nothing. They then wanted to schedule pickup of the set

but i am in the BAHAMAS so that won't work.

So to sum it all up my TV gets sound and backlight but no picture...Do you guys have any ideas what can possibly be wrong ?

You could try to re-seat the lvds cable (multi-pin ribbon cable that goes from the main to the tcon/panel). More likely failure of the Main board $350 or tcon/Panel $800. encompassparts.com login as guest search model

OK... Here's the 411 for all of you with the sound and backlight but no picture problem.

If you get a surge and your TV doesn't completely die that doesn't mean your capacitors aren't about to die...in actuality they have started the die out process and with every surge it will get worse.

With my TV after i unplugged it for a couple of days my TV would work again. This was because after the capacitor completely loss life it was able to tke charge and process enuff power to run the TV...and after running for a few days it would go down again because the capacitor gets weak.

I had to change the power board and buy a really good surge protector.
