I am not looking for a debate of lcd vs plasma so hopefully this post is not booted. I am trying to decided between the Lg60ps60 or the 55lh90. The ps60 is 400 cheaper.

Thoughts anyone?

Having owned a Zenith/LG plasma for 5 years now (~18K hrs ) I can tell you it would be hard to go wrong if you just flipped a coin. I am still considering the LG55LH90 if for some reason I don't stick with plasma for the next upgrade, as it is the best fully backlit LED LCD with local dimming I have seen. The winning item for me is the full service menu accessible to the user. Picture control is as comprehensive as the Sammys ... perhaps more so. And without the arcane crap that Panny still employs.

I believe the current LG plasmas also offer this feature as well. Both sets have comparable black levels. The LH has the matte screen which really helps. What it comes down to is what makes the PQ best for you with your viewing situation. In my case plasma just gives me the 3D 'through the window' look after tweaking the settings without any of the special processing that LCD in any form has to rely on, calibrated or not. I also need the off-axis angles for maybe 5% kitchen viewing and while the LH90 fairs pretty well in that regard it can't compare to plasma. I could live with it though.

Panny and Sammy get all the talk around here now that Pio is gone but LG represents great value for the money. No buzzing, no Black level 'bug'.

Good Luck.

Interesting choice.

I think I'd go with the plasma, just for the extra five inches. If you plan on doing any computing on it (or maybe you're a big hockey fan), then maybe the LCD is a better bet.

While the LG plasma is not considered to be one of the best plasmas, that LG LCD is top rated by Consumer Reports and also by a few of the AVS gurus here.

Thanks for making it clear as mud, I guess I can't go wrong, but I had seen the some of the Lg Plasma's had some issues... I may use it with the computer, I am a computer geek and have one hooked up to my tv now, but I didn't use it too much...

So LCD's are better compared to plasmas for Computers?

Thanks!!!

I'd take the lh90. It's almost good enough to make me switch from plasma. If it weren't for the typical LCD motion issues I would have absolutely no complaints. Even so, the image processing looks leagues better to my eyes than the Samsungs and Sonys. They're going to be tough to improve on, so get one before they're gone!

With all of the glowing reports about the 55LH90, it sure looks tempting -- especially for a gaming/computer geek.

For almost the same money, though, you can get a 65-inch Panasonic plasma. Which is what I would go with, if it would fit.

I would opt for the LG55LH90 in your case. That was one of the best displays that I've seen in my browsing and hunting out in the wild. Even off axis, the LG55LH90 really shined. Like someone else said above, you really can't go wrong with either choice, but if it was my decision then I would get the LG55LH90 and not look back.

Good luck.

I would go with the LH90.

I have a plasma but that's the only LCD at the same price level that impressed me. I just couldn't get past that ugly bezel.

True. I can't really name a TV with an uglier bezel and I'm a Panasonic owner!
Seriously though, it's unnecessarily bulbous, tinged blue, and has some odd curves that make it asymmetrical. Still, with the incredible PQ it produces I would get over it fast, so it didn't play into my purchasing decision.

And ironically, LG's 2010 lineup is pretty attractive (IMO). I wish they were going to release something similar to the LH90 at 42".

Completely agreed. Again, aesthetics aren't a deal maker/breaker for me, but the "all screen" and "one sheet of glass" looks make for the best looking designs we'll see in 2010. (IMO
) The only ones that come close are some of the Samsungs, but I really don't care for the clear trim or those with bright silver/brushed bezels.

LG has done a fantastic job with their HDTVs over the past few years and continue to improve.
