Which one would you purchase?

We are looking for a 60". Room is nice for plasma as the lighting is fairly dim. Would be replacing a Panasonic TH-C42HD from Costco so anything will be a big step up. The LG would save me a bunch of money and looked real nice viewing it at a local store. Will it fall far behind the Samsung for overall satisfaction though? I do really like the feature set on the Samsung with the SmartTV suite and the extra anti-reflective of this model is enticing.

Main uses are HDTV programming, PS3 gaming, and streaming movies.

Upper end of what I want to spend is $1600. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Still searching these forums and trying to wrap my head around all the info.

Any thoughts?

Are there other 60" sets that you would recommend over these two in the price range of $1000-1600?

Saving $600 would be nice. Is the WOW factor of the Samsung that huge over the LG?

The LG 6500 plasma is more equivalent in specs and features to the Samsung E530, in the entry level 1080p category. The Samsung 6500 series is a step up 2 levels and not directly comparible. If you want to step up to 3D and Smart TV, the next level up in the Samsung series is the E550, which is at a lower price point and more affordable depending upon budget. But the 6500/7000/8000 series will have the better video processing, although the E550 is a nice compromise between the entry level and upper level series. But I would honestly debate between the Panasonic U50/UT50/ST50 as the best choice for overall pic quality.

And if your looking for a similar price point for the entry level 1080p plasmas, the choices are LG 60PA6500, Samsung PN60E530, and Panasonic 60U50 with similar specs. All @$999. All are nice, but I do believe the Panasonic has better blacks and better video processing. But research the various models to determine your own preferences.

I figured shooting for the $1k mark was below what I would like to have as far as quality. After reading more information here on AVS and from past enjoyment of Samsung products I decided on the Samsung PN60E6500. I looked over this model and the Panasonics at a local store.

Thanks for the help.
