Lg 70+ Lcos?

1093 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  fcsmith
Has anyone heard that LG is coming out in May with a 70" LCOS projection TV? I have a source that sales to Magnolia HiFi and he indicated that this set will debut in a few months.

If this is accurate does anyone know if they are going to have some of the same issues other manufacturers have had? Any details on capabilities would be great. Thanks in advance!

Read the Spatialight thread. Basically yes, but not in May.
Afergy,

As navychop said, check out the SpatiaLight thread. Also, this presentation by SpatiaLight to Wall Street analysts has some good info. SpatiaLight is the exclusive LCoS chip supplier to LG. Here's the link:

Thanks for the website. Hopefully they don't abandon this project like everyone else seems to have done.
Also see the micro display link in my signature for information.

Robert,

You list the width of the LG LCOS 71" set as 70.8". Has that been officially released from LG? I ask because that seems very wide - the width is almost equal to the diagonal screen size. By contrast, the Samsung 61" DLP (model HL-P6163W, which has the normal Samsung bezel size, not the thin bezel) has a width of 56.9". So proportionally (relative to the screen size), it's much narrower than the LG set. Are there going to be side speakers on the LG set, or will it have a very wide bezel?

The link does not seem to work. It goes to the web site but the Spatialight presentation is not there. Did anyone download the presentation?

Try this one?

If that doesn't work then maybe they took it down. It seems to work for me though.

Thanks, but I just tried that link and while the other sessions seem to work, the Spatial Light one says that it is "expired." I wonder why.

I think there is a 70" DILA from JVC available in 1080p before the year is out

It is supposed to have speakers on the side. This is could change, however.

Robert
Any word on whether the side speakers would be detachable (like the Sony 006)? Thanks.
