Just did install today.Initial impression is looks better than my pf1500.
Running darkroom expert mode hdr and looks good.


Had it at 80 contrast but tried many dark scenes and testing at contrast 100 looks very good colors pop .
Happy with my purchase so far.


Like the powered autofocus.
Tried at 150 inch screen but i like results at 135 inch screen but may go back to 150 inch screen?


Testing very dark movie scenes and looks good in a velvet batcave.


But in a living room with some ambient light the pf1500 has better contrast.






Now i want an 8k projector just to see how good it will be?

Brightness: 58 (58 for reference to see all low light details, I kept as 50 for more solid black)

Color: 50
Tint: 0
Color Temperature: Warm

Expert Controls
Dynamic Contrast: Off
(I found out Dynamic Contrast setting will not affect the Color Temperature, but it will boost the color saturation)

Dynamic Tone Mapping: Off

Did you try sharpness at 26?
At 20 I missed some details that I see at sharpness 26 like pause a scene and look at forest scene and notice tree shadows look a bit off till I noticed that the tree shadow was that way due to part of a camera outline being shown on the ground in shadow lol.

I have fun trying to find continuity errors in TV or movies that I have all ready seen several times.

UpdateLooking at video on pf1500 then hu70la the main thing that stands out in a 1080p and 1080p comparison is the hdr on the hu70la.


Its like going from five crayons red, yellow, orange, green, blue to a huge crayons box.


I.E. Deep black red, dark red, medium dark red, arterial red, rose red , copper red , etc.


Increased variety of Colors just results in images that glow.


Watching in 4k with hdr just has me going wow at how things look compared to my previous projector.
Its like Rembrandt, Dali, did a remix of my tired pf1500 video and added some good fixes.


In short hdr helps a lot in what video quality i see.


Its good but hopefully in 5 to 7 years i can buy either a native 4k projector or an 8k eshifter with better hdr.

Tried to push the sharpness to higher setting, yes, when I set it at 26, it make noticeable sharper image, and then I tried 28 but the noise is also noticeable, so I stay in 26.

No improvement on black level but slightly improve the motion sharpness.

So happy I upgraded from my LG 1500... I have no problem with the picture quality at all. It's definitely an Improvement over the 1500. I'm enjoying the voice recognition, to be able to change inputs, change TV channels change output to Bluetooth with no audio latency. The back lid remote is nice, but the picture that pops out on my 135" screen is the best. The blacks are fine for my liking. Watched Gravity in 4K last night and it was fantastic, nice and sharp and clear. Happy with my purchase.

Noise question: does anyone experience a whirring/high-pitched grinding sound? I recently ceiling-mounted the projector and it started doing this after a while. Now, a few minutes after I turn it on, it comes back every time. This is also how I can tell it's not the "normal" noise I'm used to. That I know, and that's how it starts up. Been wondering whether it's a fan or something else causing a vibration, but it seems too high-pitched for that. Could still be it, though.

I'd been using it right side up all this time, so could this be related to the inverted position? Would the actuators make a different sound?


Wanted to ask you guys before taking it down and doing more tests. I was happy having it out of the way and just watching movies. Grateful for any input, thanks.

It does not have motorized lenses with memory. Zoom can be accessed via remote, but zoom is still on the machine.

The throw ratio of this projector is between 1.0 and 1.25x. So you can do the math if it's suitable for a CIH setup.
