I just bought this HTIB to go with my Samsung 1080P DLP. I have it connected via component right now but will switch to HDMI soon. When I try to play a DVD I can only get the receiver to display 480p which is very annoying since alot of my DVDs are copy protected. Its a great system for what I need it for but I'm a little put off that it does not upconvert many of my DVDs. I believe this receiver is the same as the the LG 9654. So if anyone can help it'll be much appreciated.
You LG will only upconvert using the HDMI output. Plus you Samsung upconverts all video to 1080P as well. It's just a question which has a better built in scaler, the tv or htib.
well the manual states it does upconvert via component and HDMI to 720p and 1080i. But only for non-copy protected dvds. So is there a way for me to upconvert say my Fifth Element dvd even though its copy protected? The TVs scalar is nice but I'd like to see what the LG is capable of.
