Anyone seen one of these yet? I'm in the market for a 40/42" LCD and this one made my list.

My 32LH30 also looks like this. I have the 10/01/2009 and the 4.5 firmware as verified by the Menu, Options, Left, 5x #1.
Sorry but I stole your image, I can take a picture if need be, but this should cover it.
My sticker was right here almost under the plastic way in the corner and it says AU Optronics. So I have the AUO panel.

Hello all,
I have an 47LH30 (mft. date 12/09 - firmware 4.32.0) and I unlocked the service menu using the IR hack. That part went well. The MP3 and JPEG playback are nice and smooth and work perfectly. However, the divx playback is very buggy for me. Sometimes when playing divx or Avi files it turns off the TV completely, it doesn't seem to support mkv files (which was a huge reason for purchasing the set), and it causes the Divx menu to get oddly pixelated and unreadable.
Does this happen with anyone else? Do you think I should wait for a newer firmware and upgrade? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise, the set is amazing.

You can buy a Philips DVD player with excellent video support via USB device for under $50. No point in risking bricking your TV.

I want to thank everyone for their posts, this forum is an excellent source of info.
I bought a LG 42lh30 on Feb. 4 at a great price from BB. This is my first LCD. Checked inside the back grille and sure enough the panel is AUO.
So far I like the way the television looks. Mind you, I am no expert. I am annoyed that LG is making these televisions with two different types of panels; however I'm not sure that I would be able to tell the difference.
I will say that the viewing angle isn't particularly great, but I've read that this is a flaw with many LCDs. Would the LGD panel that is supposedly S-IPS have a better viewing angle? I don't know. Another issue I notice is the flashlighting at the corners of the television. Again, I've read that many LCDs have this issue. Would the LGD panel not have this issue? I don't know the answer to this question either.
Over all, I am happy with the television and again, I got it for a great price. I don't how perceptible the difference is between the LGD and the AUO panels having never seen them side by side. Maybe I'll call LG just to see what they say about this issue (not that I won't be skeptical about their response). It's hard to believe that a company would risk its reputation by switching panels. Anyway, figured I'd throw my two cents in.

I noticed the AUO panel so bad, I couldn't stand it. You might be different, but if you plan on playing games it's not going to be pretty when you have to move. Also, you might notice people's faces look like loose skin hanging off their face when they move around or talk sometimes when you're watching TV or movies. I think this is an effect of the inferior AUO panel because it's slower and uses dithering because it is only 8-bit color whereas the LGD uses 10-bit color so it can accurately produce all color ranges without the need for dithering.
Keep your receipt and keep a close eye on things. Return it if it starts to bother you; if it doesn't then congrats on a good deal. (How much was it?)

Any of you guys know if there was a certain manufacture date(time period) for the AUO panels? I'm looking at a 37lh20-UA right now, the guy said hes had it for 5 months. So that means he got it around September/October.
Would it be an AUO or IPS panel, or does the manufacture date not matter?

You mean the 42lh30? I really hope you get an IPS (LGD) panel. The MVA (AUO) panel is complete garbage for playing games on.

Do you know if the IPS alpha panel that Panasonic uses is 10-bit? I'm trying to decide whether to try for another lh30 with an S-IPS or move on to a different TV.
