I own two BH200 and two BD-UP5000 and like them both I like know from the forum which one you think is better. I pushing toward the LG since I have had less problem with it, but I do like the picture quality of the Sammy. What does the forum think?

I had the Samsung for a while back when it came out, but I didn't like it. Then bought the LG and I've been using it since (with all firmware updates). However, I've been encountering video dropouts for the past year. Just for a second, it makes my screen go dark, once or twice during a whole movie. I've tested other players, TVs, and cables. It's the LG. I still recommend it.

I'm curious: What makes you like the 200 over the 5k? I own one of each, and they are slightly different functionally, w/ different buttons on the remote, etc. However, I've always assumed that the PQ would be the same, as both use the same DACs.


I haven't compared the two, because they're hooked up to different TVs in different systems.


The reliability has been about the same for the two for me. Is one more reliable than the other for you?

I like the boxy look of the LG better. The light show when it gets turned or off is also cool. The remotes are a wash, neither are great. The Qdeo of the LG is definitely better for upconverting SD than the Sammy.

^Definitely better? That's clearly a matter of opinion regarding the QDEO versus REON, both of which are solid performers.


All of the other stuff mentioned is aesthetics. It's basically a wash between the 2 players unless you're addicted to BD-Live or you value the analog audio outs of the BD-UP5000.

i owned both, but ended up selling the LG due to the 5k's PQ being better.
