I have a couple of questions on choosing the best capture card for my HTPC.

I would like to be able to connect my DirecTV receiver to the HTPC via an Svideo input on the capture card and then use Dscaler to deinterlace the image for my CRT projector.

I have heard that 2 of the best cards for the money are the LifeView 3000FM and the new Asus TVFM cards. Both of these cards use the PHILIPS SAA7134 chip and are supported under Dscaler 4.17 alpha.

I have checked out the specs on these two cards and they look very similar if not identical. The remote that comes with the Asus card has a a round pad towards the top and I think that it may be possible to u

se it as a mouse. Can anyone confirm this?

Also will either of these cards allow me to capture in MPEG 2 at standard DVD resolution of 720x480, or will I have to capture at a lower resolution and then convert?

What about the software that comes with the cards? Has anyone used it?

And finally which of these 2 cards is the best in your opinion and why?

Thanks in advance,

Rayden
