I am interested in setting up an outdoor theater for down at the lake in 2 weeks for one weekend only. I would be using an HC1500, if a bon fire was about 20' away, would that affect the pic? It would be projected onto the back side of a 2 story garage.

The fire will be OK it is more of an event than a technology demo. A low contrast picture will be OK. Expect all the insects to like the light from the projector and crawl on the "screen". Try do use a surround sound system and sub you will be shocked how much ambiance that will bring to the experience

On another forum dedicated to outdoor theaters, when this comes up, I ALWAYS say....
People don't go to outdoor movies for the piture or sound quality, they go to have a good time.
Almost ANYTHING you provide will be well-received.

Just a friendly update, this was an incredible experience!! We watched "The great outdoors", and "Ironman".
It was even better than I expected, and if you have the opportunity, I would highly recomend having an outdoor theatre night. Was a great time!!
