lilwrecker or martysub (or variant)

I have a question for the great subwoofer minds on this board.  Let's say I have around $500ish to spend and want to build the greatest sub I can for the money.  I've been reading on here for a month or so and just am having an impossible time deciding which design to build.  Lilwrecker with an Alpine or SI?  Martysub or variant? Dual or single? Also looking to pair this with one of the inukes that are currently on sale (the 1000dsp or 3000dsp).  This is for a fairly big room 15' x 25' with 9 foot ceilings.  50/50 music to movie.  I have a 10" jbl but it's not doing it for me. I really want to experience some punch somewhere in the mid to high teens with movies.  I have some woodworking skills so I think I could do the tapped horn if it came to that.  A part of me just really wants to get the SI 18 just to see what it can do.  Let me know what you guys think.  Not sure if I provided enough info, but I really want to get this right the first time. Thanks!

SI subs are going fast. People are buying them 2 to 4 at a time...

Ok.  I couldn't resist so had to get the D4 SI 18.  I figured I could always do the lilwrecker later with the Alpine driver (or SI) or if not wait for another lilmike special.  Now just need to get advice on what amp and box configuration.  I like the performance of the marty but don't want the driver on the end.   Oh wait...just found a thread on a tall boy with a top vent but didn't find any dimensions.  This was an LTD02 design.  I like it.  Would the inuke 1000dsp be a good match with it?
Unless you are on a tight budget I would opt for the 3000 or preferably the 6000DSP. At some point you will want/need more power. For the small differences in prices, get 2-3X the power you think you will need. You will have extra headroom and have a more future proof setup.

Ok, that sounds like very sage advice Joe.  I think that I will get the 3000dsp.  But the thing that is scaring me off is I have no idea how to wire it to my sub.  I've looked at how people are connecting these things but it's just not sinking in.  I know I will need to get speakon connectors and wire them to regular speaker wire. Right? Just not sure which connectors to get.  I've seen conflicting examples and not sure if one is better than another.

That's and easy enough problem. Yes, you can just use speaker wire, preferably 10-12 gauge and by two pole speakons if you want to make use of each channel.

if you want bridge the amp into one channel of output then get a four pole. At the prices, just get a couple of two pole and one 4 pole.

Once you see it, you will appreciate how easy it is to assemble the connectors.
