Line across screen- Bad tube?

327 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Bert Randolph
I just bought a Runco 933, set it up, and found that it has a horizontal line running across the center of the screen. I put up a white field off of the projectors test patterns, turned down the contrast and brightness, looked into the lenses and the red tube has the line across it. Any ideas? pwest

Turn the projector off and look at the offending tube. If you see dark line across the tube face, thats bad. It sounds like phosphor burn by a failure of the vertical deflection. If thats the case, then you're out of luck and the tube is junk. I'd also want to find out what caused the deflection failure before I dropped a new tube in.
This is my 2nd Runco 933. My 1st one died while a local A/V company was tryinng to adjust it. So being new to CRT projectors. I found this one and decided to learn how to set it up myself. Then after talking to Runco tech and giving them the error code from the 1st one, they said it was a bad deflection board. So my idea of switching this board into the 1st one may not be such a great idea huh?
Bad set up. It's stressing out your projector.

Zero out your setting and it will go away.

Do a good mechanical, and all will be fine.
