I've got an RCA 35" direct view that is a few years old.

It only has S-video/composite inputs for video. Is there anything

out there that can "video process" or line double that can

be used for this. Apart from the interlaced scan lines and 4:3

format (I'll probably get a direct view 16:9 this year to replace it)

it produces an excellent picture.

Thanks

By definition, the S-Video and composite inputs won't accept the "line doubled" input frequency, and you (stated) you don't have any other inputs that would accept such a signal. This is the same reason I sold my 35" Mits a couple of years ago to get my current HDTV (Princeton). I know you think it still looks OK on NTSC material, but you'd be surprised at how much better the tube+electronics are in newer "HD ready" TV's. Things like improved color phosphors, small dot pitch, etc.

Yves Faroudja would be the am to ask, why because the line doubling done to analog sets was when Farouja was charging $20,000 for a line doubler! Why not ask him where you can get one in decent shape and how much is a used line doubler from that era he quite nice to talk to. I met him at a pre accident C.E.S. Show in Las Vegas, along with first name Omar Bose.

Instead of gambling I was introduced to these 2 fine gentlemen and coversing with the biggist men in line doubling and audio speakers more than 17 years ago in the last century!

Did I fly in to Las Vegas, no I had to deliver some plastic, that was on the manifest, but I knew it was prefabricated chips for the casinos. My company already knew I was honest thru and thru and could be trusted to deliver the goods without any shortages at all. My stop in Las Vegas was allowed by my company for my long standing honesty.

I met two of the biggest in that era, and I was absolutely thrilled to be on a first name basis as Mr. Faruja said called me Yves. I remarked the only other Yves I knew of did a movie with Marilyn Monroe, called "Let's Make Love" he had a hearty laugh for that.:) Instead of what you read why not follow the previous poster and get yourself a 16 X 9 HDTV.
