I have been experiencing problems with the processor in my B&K AVP 3090. I get lockups that disable the outputs on the preamp. Most of the time I can fix the problem with a hard boot on the system (power off/power on). The manufacturers Service department says it is related to transients on my power line. I have a couple questions.

1. Have others experience this type of problem on B&K or other manufacturers equipment?

2. The recommended solution was a good line filter or line conditioner. I am aware of the $500-$1500 conditioners used for Power Amps. Have any of you had success with Power line filters for removing transients. I only plan to connect the preamp through the filter.

Thanks...Doyle

I think that I am experiencing a similar thing. My Velodyne HGS 15 sub is turning on by itself (it is set to auto mode) when no audio/video equipment is on. I have a Lexicon DC-1 preamp. I am not sure if a power conditioner would help me. I have identified the problem source. When I turn on my hallway lights or my furnice turns on (different circut then my audio/video gear) sometimes the Velodyne goes on too- responding to the spikes of power when light/furnice turns on. I have tried hooking up all my audio/video units to my Monster HTS 1000 surge surpressor, but still same problem. Wondering if a power conditioner would help me? I have been also looking at balanced power supplies (see www.equitech.com) and a product called Brick Wall ( www.brickwall.com ). I am not sure if such items will help? Let me know, if you try these or other items, if they end up working for you. Unfortunitely When these product manufactures make all their claims I am wondering If they conviently ignore the fact that all these pieces of audio/video gear are usually connected via interconnects.
