Powerful Marketing Program And Concert Series Kicks Off On INHD2 With Live Bon Jovi Concert/Webcast November 21st

NEW YORK, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide music superstar, Jon Bon Jovi today joined Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a world leader in high-definition television and digital convergence technology products, and the cable industry's OnlyCableCan initiative, to launch a partnership that will bring superlative High Definition music events and concerts to an expanding group of cable customers. An exclusive, intimate live Bon Jovi concert will kick-off a powerful consumer promotion and a unique and exciting schedule of "INHD's Center Stage" music events, exclusively sponsored by Samsung through 2005, on INHD/INHD2 -- the most widely distributed all High-Definition (HD) network channel. The concert will air live on INHD2 at 8 pm on Sunday, November 21, 2004. The concert will also be simulcast on the Web ( http://www.samsungusa.com/bonjovi ) and a replay of the event on INHD2 for viewers on the west coast will air immediately following the live show.

"Samsung, OnlyCableCan, and INHD are joining forces to promote the high definition experience in a way it's never been done before -- with high-profile musical artists showcasing all the visual excitement of HD and the unparalleled sonic experience of music in 5.1 surround," said Peter Weedfald, Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing, Samsung Electronics America, Inc. "This unique win-win partnership not only highlights the benefits of HD as offered via cable and Samsung's award-winning HDTV line, but it is creating and fueling a new outlet for artists to promote and market their latest releases. As a leader in high definition television, Samsung enthusiastically supports the efforts by OnlyCableCan and INHD to give cable customers an extraordinary combination of sight and sound." Samsung will offer a live webcast of the concert at http://www.samsungusa.com/bonjovi .

The program will run from October 19th, 2004 until February 5th, 2005. Throughout that time, there will be monthly concerts featuring high-profile music artists on INHD/INHD2. An attractive retail offer provides a $200 gift card to consumers who sign up for digital cable with HD and purchase a Samsung digital TV, so they can experience these exciting musical events on INHD. The participating cable companies, under the OnlyCableCan umbrella, are Adelphia Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable, and cover approximately 75% of U.S. television households.

Andy Addis, Senior Vice President, Marketing and New Products, Comcast, and OnlyCableCan spokesperson said, "Our partnership with Samsung and INHD means we can provide a one-of-a-kind high-definition viewing experience -- available only on cable. Our customers will be entertained by the most popular artists with cable's best HD sight and sound on the highest-quality HDTV sets. It's a complete package that no satellite company can match." All parties expect to announce additional exclusive high-definition cable music events in the months to come.

As part of this extraordinary effort, Samsung will use its Internet, print and TV marketing muscle and join forces with OnlyCableCan to promote the exclusive "INHD Center Stage" concert series to consumers. The concerts, beginning with Bon Jovi, will be advertised and featured on Samsung's extensive Internet network, which includes 380 key Internet sites reaching 1.6 billion consumers per month, as well as in extensive print and TV advertisements on participating cable outlets in major markets. Online, Newspaper and TV ads will feature the bands' creative output and the INHD TV shows. More than 1.5 million customers currently receive INHD programming in the United States. INHD and INHD2 are available to more than 45 million customers on Adelphia Communications, Bright House Networks, Cablevision Systems Corporation, Comcast, Cox Communications and Time Warner Cable systems, all of which will carry the concert series.

The November 21st Bon Jovi concert coincides with the November 16th release of a long-awaited Bon Jovi "think outside the box" set titled, 100,000,000 Bon Jovi Fans Can't Be Wrong... , from Island Records. The collection of fifty songs includes four CDs with 38 never before released recordings plus twelve rarities, as well as a bonus DVD filled with never-before-seen interview footage with the band and personal home movies from over the years.

This is really something to look forward to, assuming they're "plugged in". That unplugged, re-mix crap INHD's been running over and over is downright brutal.
Oh geez, only cable can... The most annoying/stupid marketing in the word. What's even funnier is that they've realized they suck so they've begun to compare them selves to wheels....

Some of it was an improvement over the original, basically just the newer songs that were too "pop".
INHD2 is showing bon jovi in concert on sunday night are there any plans to show it on INHD in the future
Anyone planning to watch the concert tonight on INHD2?

From what I've heard, it's supposed to be the "traditional" rock versions of the songs, so you can sing along instead of being tortured.

I'm looking forward to it, and have the DVR set to record it!

Also, for the folks who don't have INHD2, apparently you can watch a simultaneous live webcast. Check out www. samsungusa.com/bonjovi for more info.
I'm recording it now (and watching/listening). It seems a bit more quiet (sound level) then other INHD concerts. I had to turn up my receiver way more then normal. Most of the sounds are from the front of the mix too with little audience ambiance in the rear.
looks great, sound is not good though, muffled, with seemingly nothing coming out of the center channel.

It's DD 5.1 not the usual DD2.0 INHD broadcast for the concert program. Depends on Receiver/preamp setting, the level can be different.

This is awesome

spoke too soon, Bad 5.1 mixing. No dialog from center but the FR/FL
great, now they add the Lip sync special to the already messed up 5.1.

Big spoil

I'm only hearing Drums out of the Center Channel. I think whomever is mixing this is a little clueless.

Not to mention the sound level is very low. I have my Yamaha Receiver turned up higher than usual for my normal listening level.
I agree the sound is horrible. Maybe when they release the DVD they will fix this
i would really like to know this as well. My cablevision carrier only has INHD not INHD2 and I was disappointed that they did not carry it last night. I really don't understand why they don't offer both channels, but hopefully soon they will. If anyone gets any info on this concert being offered on INHD in the future, let us know.
The show had poppy audio (it would pop every now and then). Picture was flawless.

Wow! What a great looking concert last night...and a horrible sounding one. I wondered if Miracle Ear sponsored this event because you needed it to hear anything.

Everything else (song selection, PQ, atmosphere) was great.
