My Panasonic TC-P50G25 plasma just died the 10 blink signal of death. Since it's going to take me a bit to repair it on my own, I've decided to upgrade and that's where I need your help.

This TV will be in a Large, extremely bight, living room. The wall it will be mounted on is 20'x20' which is right next to another wall of windows. Right now this 50" TV looks very small on the wall so I'm looking for a 75" replacement. Depending on prices I will go down to 65".

This new TV is not for a home theater. That room will be built sometime in the future. For now I need a good 75" TV that will work well for sports and random TV shows from DirecTV. Every so often we will stream a movie from Netflix or Amazon. I also like to play my Ps4 when the mood strikes me.

During Hockey season, I will watch at least one game a night so it's important to get this right.

My budget is around 3k.

If you have the budget consider the Sony 740D or C. It does everything right. The Vizio P75 gets a lot of love but I don't believe it is the best choice for hockey due to screen uniformity.

If you can find a deal somewhere on a 2015 78JSxxxx somewhere that is also worth considering. I bought an open box 78JS8600 at BestBuy in May for $4100 and I am extremely pleased with it. The current model year big Samsungs are pricey. If I didn't need bigger, I would have bought the Sony in a heartbeat.

This a very good TV around your price point.

The 2015 78JU7500 is another well regarded display. Crutchfield has it:

Thanks for the replies!

The only one that fits in my price range is the Samsung JU7100. How does that compare with the Sony XBR-75X850D which appears to be at the same price point.
