How about this Lenkeng 4x4 matrix - quoted as $300 wholesale

Looks remarkably similar to the grandbeing unit - which is quoted as $900 around the net.

Anyone seen one ? reviews ? got one ? The wholesale price of $300 is interesting.

I was looking at a 4x4 hdmi switches today. I'm leaning toward the

Atlona AT-HDMI-44M 4x4 HDMI Matrix Switch, but hesitating due to price.

The lkv344 does NOT say it's 1.3 compliant, so it might have lip sync issues.

I had some hdmi 1.2 baluns with lip sync issues that went away with 1.3 baluns.

The atlona also states 2.25 Gb/sec vs. 1.65 for the LKV. Post what you decide to do

and how it goes.

This is the info I have from them :

HDCP and HDMI V1.3 compliant;

.Allows up to four HDMI video devices to be independently switched to four HDMI monitors, HDTVs or projectors;

The four outputs could show the same or different source at the same time no matter the source is HDCP or not;

Delivers uncompressed digital video with zero signal loss;

Support high definition resolutions 1080p, 1080i, 720p and standard video format;

3 switching modes, auto, IR remote and manual;

With extra infrared receiver extension;

Remote control function via RS232 or Ethernet..

OK, unit arrived. Of course we have some teething issues - but Lenkeng appear to be responding so theres hope for a flash update :)

Big issue is with turning my plasma off. When i turn it back on, we get a snowstorm - Im assuming the HDCP link key is now old and the matrix needs to re-establish a new one. If I switch inputs, and then back again, it resyncs (qiuickly I might add - less than 2 secs). The screen is blank during this 2 sec delay. Perfectly acceptable I think.

During this time the STB HDMI source is always ON. Only the Plasma gets turned off - therefore the HDMI board in the plasma is powered down.

Reckon this is a fair assumption of whats happening ?

Can you tell us how much you $$$$? Thanks!

Also, does it allow a Dolby 7.1 signal to pass, or does it knock it back to 2.0 like the Monoprice does? Thanks part 2

Well, I only have one LCD that takes it's audio from HDMI - and if I play an AC3 file i get silence. Any standard TV through the HDMI or a stereo source is played fine (PCM). The LCD wont know what do do with an AC3 stream.

So yes, i'd saw it passes the raw stream and works as expected for audio.

Ah, so you're not running HDMI to an AVR, then the AVR to the LCD?

These LCDs are for the bedrooms - last thing I need to buy is a load of receivers just to decode stuff :) It shouldnt be necessary.

The STB HD box is fine - it knows this. The Popcorn doesnt play ball - it assumes that everyone has to have an cinema receiver.

I went to their website and got queries:

"The four outputs could show the same or different source at the same

time no matter the source is HDCP or not;"

So, HDCP is no longer active at outputs? Does this mean I can use LCD with DVI input to watch video?

"Video Amplifier Bandwidth 1.65 Gbps "

For true HDMI 1.3, is the bandwidth 2.25 Gbps. Not a signle word about deep color! I truly wonder if this is HDMI 1.3. Maybe, it is just HDMI 1.3 "compatible", which means it is HDMI 1.2, anyway!

Any more thoughts on this unit and how it performed compared to the monoprice 4x2 unit ?

I have the Grandbeing 4x4 hdmi switch and it doesn't

work at all. It's going back, and they are hinting at

giving me issues with a refund.

I also got email from someone at Grandbeing that

Lenkeng is their customer, which either the parts,

the design, or the entire box is a Grandbeing design.

I'm thinking of trying the Octava 4x4 switch.

http://www.octavainc.com/HDMI%20matr...tch%204x4.html

I've used the 4x2 Monoprice switch and it worked

pretty good. Once in a while some green sparklies,

but since it wasn't perfect and I really need 3 outputs,

the 4x4 is what I want. I checked out the Atlona 4x4

but at double the price with lower specs, the Octava

looks like a winner. It won't be available until the 1st

of the year, but I'd be interested to hear if somone

gets one and can report back before I order one.
