Just hooked up my Hughes HTL-HD yesterday. IR from Replay works fine and the unit sends both yPrPb and S-Video signals at the same time. Probelm... can't get Replay to change to local OTA HD Channels. Sees channel in guide but will not send out IR code. Anyone have any ideas on have to accomplish this?

How are the HD OTA channels addressed? Normally (with the exception of the Samsung 151something) uses the channel-subchannel (channel->subchannel or channel.subchannel) the replay would only be able to tune these channels is the digital channels are remapped to a standard channel number (2-188 (or whaterver)) otherwise you are SOL.

The Hughes supposedly can do both channel-subchannel and actual OTA channel number. I just can't get the blasted Hughes to switch.

Then this opens another can. Since I have D* going into Replay via S-Video and OTA going into Replay via Coax... Is the Replay going to try to pull the Digital channels from the OTA instead of the S-Video...

No, the OTA channels would have to go the the hughes via the Digital OTA input. The replay can't do anything with the OTA channels because they are digital and encoded.

So wiring should have everything going through the hughes reciever. The hughes reciever handles all tuning.

Is there a manual for that reciever online?

One thing about the "real" channel, in the bay area 5 digital is 29.1 (or 29-1) and the PSIP channel is 5.1 (or 5-1) so... there's no way to acutally tune the digital channel because 29 isn't 29.1. Same frequency range, but that's it. (AFAIK)

So I had heard that Sony was forced to use a "standardized" menu for the HD-300 (which I have). The thing is that I've never seen a way to remap channels with the HD300. The Hughes box seems to have much the same features, hardware, inputs, output, etc. I don't know if there is a remap to a standard channel number.

I have it wired with the OTA and D* going into the hughes and the S-Video going to the Replay. I also have another feed of the antenna into Replay via Antenna in becuase I didn't want to miss Enterprise Sunday night... (Since the Replay won't tell the Hughes to tune to 18, I would have lost a new episode - Our UPN plays new shows on Sunday BTW.)

My thought was to tell Replay that I no longer had an OTA connection, which would then force it to try to get channel 10 tru the D*, but then I'd lose guide info. I did find that if you enter just the channel, say 10, into the Hughes, it will wait a second and then tune to 10-1. So, in theory, If I could get Replay to look for 10 on the Hughes, it would IR a 10 and the Hughes would add the -1.

Hmmm...

I've got the Sony, as Jeff does, and since I've got the D* locals, '10' on mine would just tune to the local D*, not fall over to 10-1. '10.' does go to '10.1', but 10 goes to 10. Nice that 10 goes to the 'first' 10 'thing', but not useful for those with locals...

Why not tell the Replay to send the digits, with no return afterwards? (Turn that off in the IR blaster customizing screen.) That should do what you want!

Tried that. Lincoln doesn't have D* locals yet so I can't do your work around. My wife would kill me if I got rid of the guide info for the locals, so I'm kinda stuck. I'm starting to think there is no solution.

Here's a thought. What would happen if I fed a composite line from the Hughes to line 1 of the Replay, list it as a "Digital" box with my local digital cable and use the Hughes IR code with some boohaha corpoate named box? In theory, wouldn't it see the digital channels and change to them using the Hughes IR data?
