Besides the LCD screen and "interactive" help menu, being able to control one more device, and the additional all-in-one functions (Watch a Movie, etc.), what makes the 650 better than the 300?


I've never owned a Logitech remote before. Do the Harmony's really stand up to their claims of being able to work with relatively obscure devices?

The 300 is a dog. It can do only one activity, period. That may be useful if you only have a tv and a cable box or want to replace a single OEM remote. But it's pretty worthless beyond that. The 650 can do practically unlimited activities, sequences, favorites, additional commands at the start and end of activities, variable pauses and delays between commands, the list goes on. The 600 is cheaper than the 650 but has the same capabilities and a monochrome LCD. Refurbished harmonys are cheaper still and have even more capabilities.


If you insist on an under $30 remote, the $15 RCA RCRP05B is 5 device, has over 20 activities/sequences, and has the ability to add any command for nearly any device via codes. It's much more powerful than the 300 and half the price. Even something like the URC WR7 is a much better value than a harmony 300.
