I'm using LM Remote Keymap with a Harmony One and an MCE IR receiver to control MediaPortal. I also needed to map key presses for BeyondTV otherwise I believe MediaPortal will respond to the normal MCE commands.

If you use a program like EventGhost you can. It will sit in the systemtray and show you all the commands that are being received. You can then create your own macros and remap the commands via drag / drop

can you let us know which IR receiver you're using?

i'm using a ONE with the MCE IR Receiver and it works great with MP.

you should first install the SendMessage plug-in for MP.

next, you should install EventGhost . EventGhost is packaged with a MP plug-in (that will communicate with the SendMessage plug-in) so it is fairly easy to set up.

...and once you start playing around with EventGhost, you can get it to do just about anything you want

There's a tool called MPtraytool or something that will launch MP via Green button. Look for it in the MP forums.

SendMessage requires HIP to import a .hip file. How do you do this?

Edit: seems you just finish the wizard and get to file -> open configuration -> open .hip.

I tried MPTray but both MP and Media Center start at the same time. How do you prevent Media Center from starting?

Edit: Vista's Media Center is hard to disable. The only way I've found is as follows:

"Vista Media Center Edition ehtray.exe instructions

Even if you disable the task and delete the registry entry Vista will start it again the next time

you start Windows Media Center. To disable this from happening you need to perform the

following steps:

1. Delete the Registry entry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVers ion\\Run\\ehTray.exe

2. Right click cmd (at top) and click Run as administrator.

3. In command prompt, type takeown /f C:\\Windows\\ehome\\ehtray.exe

4. A message will be displayed that this completed successfully. This will give you

ownership of the file.

5. In same command prompt, type icacls C:\\Windows\\ehome\\ehtray.exe /grant (your

username):F NOTE: Substitute (your username) with your current username.

6. A message will be displayed that this completed successfully.

7. In the same command prompt, type cd C:\\Windows\\ehome to change to the ehome

directory.

8. In same command prompt, type rename ehtray.exe ehtray.old

9. Now reboot and ehtray.exe will no longer start when you start Windows or when you

start Windows Media Center"

MCEreplacement does not seem to be compatible with my recent version of MediaPortal.

Are you sure it doesn't work with MP 1.0. Although I haven't tried the plugin with 1.0 yet, It's working with RC4 which is the version right before the recent 1.0 release.

Once I get 1.0 installed, i'll let you know if MCEreplacement plug in works.

Here is a link to the MCE Replacement plugin forum: http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/mc...nt-plugin-165/

PS: Make sure you specify the MCEreplacement installer to install in the MP directory.

This is the error message reported by my Plugin Manager:

"an error occured while loading the plugin

MediaPortal.Plugins.MCEReplacement.

It's incompatible with the current MediaPortal version and won't be loaded"

The forum says "MCE RD is obsolete, as IR Server Suite has much more functionality."

I'm in the process of setting up a HTPC with Mediaportal 1.0. I've bought a Harmony One remote to work with it but get confused about the next step.

A microsoft IR blaster costs a fortune to get hold of over here. Do I have to buy that one or will any blaster do?

Hi all. This is my forst post on this forum so please excuse me if my question is a little simple.

I have an Antec Fusion Remote case with a built in IR and it come with Imon software but I can't get the ONE to opperate any of the functions in windows including Media Portal. If I set it up as Microsoft Media Center in Harmony instead of Soundgraph iMon it works. But as an MCE remote in iMon it does nothing!!!

Can I get rid of iMon and use another piece of software for the built in IR?

Thanks

jamie
