Logitech Harmony Ultimate Home - won't turn on TV......initially.

Hoping someone can help here as the Logitech remote forum is a ghost town since their announcement.

Had to buy a new TV, well because this idiot damaged his previous TV moving it. Programmed the new TV into the hub, re-created WATCH ROKU activity and everything but the TV turns on initially. If I do the HELP on the remote it turns the tv on and asks if it fixed the problem. Then, strangely, I can turn the TV on and off with the Harmony Activity just fine. The TV is the first item to turn on in the remote's order of items. Then the AVR turns on. Roku is always on.

TV: Sony Bravia XR65A80J
Receiver: Denon AVR-X4000

Once the tv does get turned on the Harmony controls it (on and off wise)........UNTIL........it all is shut off for a period of time. Say if I come back 30 mins later after turning everything off the tv won't turn on by the Harmony. But the Harmony Help turns it on or the TV remote turns it on. Then I can use the Harmony to turn it off and turn it right back on.

Anyone ran into this or have any thoughts? This might be a TV issue. I looked in the power settings on the TV but don't see anything to change.

What's going to be the option going forward for an All In One remote? Granted I don't have a lot of different devices either. Just need something to turn on the TV and AVR to the right settings and occasionally switch between a Cinema or Stereo sound profile depending on what I am doing (Movie or Music).

It could be that the TV is in a deeper sleep mode after not being used for some period of time, and thus misses the initial power on command. A possible solution is to add a second discrete power on command. But Harmony will not let you use the standard discrete Power On command in the startup sequence. You could "learn: this command from another smart remote (not the OEM remote) and name it something special. If you do not have another smart remote
you could try adding a command at the start of the startup sequence, something like the OK button or Back button. This might be enough to "wake up" the TV internal command processor so that it is ready to respond to the Power On command.
I tried adding the Back and Ok button but no go. If I added them in MyHarmony desktop software I could order them. But when I look in the Harmony App is showed them at the end. So don't know if that's an issue. But I got it to work somehow. I deleted the TV and added back in the 55" version of my TV wondering if their was an issue between Harmony's server configurations for the two devices. The next time I turned the activity on at first the TV didn't come on, but the TV asked something about power ENABLE or DISABLE. I selected enable, which it said it would use more power. Sorry got sidetracked with something else, the question it asked specifically slips me. At first it came on, but the receiver didn't recognize it so the TV wanted to use the TV speakers instead of the AVR. I went in through the Harmony app and added a 5 sec delay. The next time it seemed to work right.

Something with the Power question asked by the TV and/or the delay seems to be the ticket.

I'll see what happens and report back.

Yes, that prompt is energy saving mode or standby mode when the TV is off. Maybe the Harmony App was not correctly synced but you should be able to order them correctly. If you can get this working then change the TV setting to Disable for power. Save some energy.

Well, I was wrong.........the delay didn't help. Not sure what is going on. Have no other non-OEM smart remote to learn from (however that is done).

I deleted the TV outta the remote again and added it back in because I was messing with the delays and got to a point I couldn't remove it. App is a little buggy I think. After adding the TV back in I recreated the Activity, but WATCH ROKU didn't show up, so I tried a custom one and it popped up the ROKU as an option. Changes made late so waited to test in the morning.

Everything turns on now, but the delays are not right. I've tried a couple different delay settings but I must have something wrong. Even though the TV is first is seems to come on second (at least it's powering on though) but since it really powers up second the TV doesn't know to switch to external speakers, Turn the AVR off and back on it switches the TV to external speakers. So I'll keep messing with the delays.

Don't know if a new receiver would help in any of that or not, something not communicating in the ARC, since the AVR is only ARC and not eARC? I was debating replacing it anyway, maybe with a refurb X3600H or X3700H, since it has this random speaker static thing going on. Plus last week it was shutting down for no reason, but after 2 factory resets and letting it be unplugged all night the power down has stopped (for now).

What I did find out is that the TV remote does turn on the AVR and control the ROKU, which is interesting. Only missing two options on the OEM TV remote. The Home button goes to the Apps Home on the TV vs when on the Harmony it goes to the Home page of the Roku. When listening to music I usually switch to Stereo, so I use the Harmony for that.

Another new weird thing is it seems to miss the initial pause on a video so I have to press pause twice. I know it does that on YouTube.

I'll play with the delays some more and see what happens.

I think I might have it. Looks like doing the custom activity, and not the Watch Roku activity, made the TV switch on the first time. But I also found that by default it made the TV the last operation. I was thinking the order was fine, but it was actually 3rd. Must be I never checked it.
You could insert a delay after the TV power on (assuming it is first). This would allow it to get itself established and "see" that the AVR is attached and use it for audio.
I purchased the Sony 75XR90J it has the same power on issue, only it clicks on and right off again. If I use the sony remote it will be fine. Once the tv has been off for awhile 2 hours. The Logitech elete won't turn it on .

Bumping this old thread. Same issue. @jimbofoxman, were you able to resolve this?

Honestly I don't recall. The Apple TV remote turns on the Denon, TV and controls them now so I haven't used the Harmony in many many months. And the Denon seems to switch the audio format automatically depending on the source, so I haven't had to use the Harmony to switch that either.

Sorry
