I have this HTIB, still in the original box. I had my Samsung 46" LCD hooked up to DirectV HD yesterday, and the installer, who seemed very knowlegable, looked at my HTIB for me. He said because it has only 1 optical audio input that I could not use both my TV and DVD Player with this system. It was either one or the other. He said each audio source must have it's own cable running to the receiver (or HTIB).

Is this true? It sounds logical, but I really don't know.

Thanks.

Well since the Z5500 manages only the audio, you don't have to worry about hooking up any video connections to it. Now I don't know the outputs of your DirecTV receiver or DVD player, but from a quick look I saw that a DirecTV receiver has a optical output and that's probably how it's hooked up to your Z5500. That leaves you with a coaxial connection from your DVD player to the "hub". If your DVD player has that coaxial cable, then you'll be ok. However, if it only has optical out like the DirecTV then you would have to keep manually switching it yourself. Hope that helps.
