We recently purchased a new Plasma tv for our family room. 65 inch VT series, love it. We decided to move our six or seven year old 58 inch plasma into our bedroom after we replaced it with our new one. It hasn't taken long to realize we need to get rid of the plasma in our bedroom. It throws way too much heat. It's overheating our bedroom and we're in the middle of a polar vortex. This spring and summer we won't be able to use the display.

We have however grown fond of the size. We like having a large display in our bedroom.

Would LED/LCD work? We would want 55/60 inch display but I'm not sure if that size LCD would still produce uncomfortable levels of heat. Do LCD's run cool enough to run a large display in a small bedroom or should we go back to smaller display 50 inch or smaller?

Thanks

I'm surprised it's throwing that much heat; what make and model is your 58" plasma?

LCD/LED displays run much cooler than plasmas, at least in my experiences. You should be able to run a >50" set in your bedroom with no problem.

My 70" Vizio runs at 210 watts. Smaller sets are lower than that. The 55" runs at 71 watts.

So one last question... Watts equals heat? I know it may seem like a stupid question but I want to make sure I understand this. If I find a display around 150 watts it will throw off significantly less heat than my current 600 watt plasma?
