Anybody else having a long wait in getting Paradigm Reference 100s in rosenut? I ordered mine 5 weeks ago and still waiting. Is there usually this long of a delay on getting 100s?

I got the center channel quickly but the mains are such a wait.

I have the Studio 100's v.3 and I chose the 470 as the centre, instead of the 570. The main reason was that the 570 is way bigger than the 470. The 470 is about as deep as the main speakers. All 3 speakers in my house are positioned across a bay window with curtains behind them, and fit very nicely (the 570 certainly would not have). Secondly, the 570 is more expensive and I couldn't really hear much difference.

I spent most of my time auditioning the main speakers, as 2-channel music is most important to me. I didn't really compare the 570 to the 470 extensively as far as sound quality is concerned -- the 470 seemed more than adequate for movies. It sounds great!

Outlaw 770 (7 x 200 W). I did have the Outlaw 7100 (7 x 100 W) for a couple of weeks -- it was inferior to the 770.

I just waited 5 weeks for my studio 60's in standard black, I am still waiting for my studio 20's. When I bought my First Paradigm products Monitor 7's and cc370, minimonitors I waited even longer than that. One thing is for sure though, I noticed a HUGE difference with my 60's on music, just after a few days of playing with them, so I can imagine what you 100's will sound like. They are well worth the wait. I am powering mine with a Pioneer Elite VSX-53tx, but I am thinking about 2 Outlaw audio M200 monoblocks 200wpc

OK - I don't get it.

Do you guys have receivers or pre/pros that allow you to cross your 100's at a lower frequency than your other speakers??? Or do you use a single global Xover that is probably too high for the 100's??? Or do you set your 100's to large and not worry about a Xover for the 100's??? - And if so - isn't it a problem since the 100's really won't do the full spectrum???

Exactly...! I have the Outlaw 950. I have a different x-over freq. for mains, centre & rears. But I've actually turned it off for the mains: I don't use the sub for 2-channel music (CD's). And for movies they work just fine like that -- the LFE is sent to the sub, together with whatever is under the cut-off for the centre plus whatever is under the cut-off for the rears. At least, that's what I think I set it up for... it *sounds* good anyway!

I had my v3 system in Light Cherry in less than a week:

100's Front

CC-470 Center

20's Rear

I went with the 470 over the 570 because:

A) I cross all speakers over to my sub (SVS PC+2039) at 60Hz in my pre/pro (Rotel RSP-1066).

B) The drivers it uses are identical in size and material to the rest of the system.

When listening to SACD/DVD-A I run them all full-range w/sub handling LFE only. I've never once felt the need for bigger surrounds or a bigger center.

It sounds like long waits are not uncomon.

I got the cc-570 and my dealer had it in rosenut, in stock, the day I ordered it.

I'm enjoying the discussions on amps. I have a choice left to make on this. I'm already using a Yamaha RX-V2400 for the pre/pro and amp until I make my amp decision.

The RX-V2400 has a wide range of cutover freqencies to cutover to the sub. It also has a complete bypass for stereo listening.

I'm still running my Paradigm Monitor 5s that are a dozen years old for my mains.

I'll just have to wait for the 100s

Thanks for all the posts on this,

But the problem with the RX-V2400 is that ALL of your speakers must be crossed-over at the SAME frequency. So, although the 100's are so nice down to mid lows, you have to waste that since you have to cut them off at the frequency of your weakest speakers. What are you using for surrounds? Are they the limiting factor?

ekb,

Just personal preference really. I find that all of the SACD/DVD-A discs I have do not contain bass deep enough to warrant crossing them over to the sub.

Movies on the other hand can contain deep/loud bass in just about any channel as well as the LFE. I also am more likely to play movies back at a higher volume than I do music...or so it seems.

For 2-ch sources I just run my 100's=LARGE and turn the SUB=OFF. Except for the rare instance that I listen to techno there's no deep bass on my favorite albums that the 100's can't handle.

This is exactly the same thing I do, for exactly the same reason.
