Newbie here. Please welcome me....


I don't know jack about projectors, but have been lurking around this forum for some time now. Yesterday, I see this huge post regarding the DELL LT150 fiasco, and guess what? I impulse buy(order)!


I was half hoping the order doesn't go through, but, on the contrary, it did at $1682.40. I even got the 5% discount and an order number! Beginner's luck?


Please tell me I did the right thing! If my wife finds out, she will flip! Help me justify my purchase. I can always sell it, right?

jinjen, perhaps you can start by saying that the LT150 hit the street about a year ago at MSRP $7,300... You got it for $1,680...


Nah, the wives have a way of telling us that this is not such a great deal because the $1,680 is wasted money, anyway.

One thing i found with my wife and another friend of mine also when we bought satellite systems, was alot of grief for the first month or so, then after they started watching it, nw they love it more then me, i hope it's the same with me again, but i am not looking forward to the next month, hehe

Your calculation isn't quiet right after all!

Your newly purchased projector won't cost you 1680$ but

a whopping 3360$ (1680$ x 2)!!

Belive me, if you spend money for your own purpose, your wife will definitely want the same amount for herself.

Looks as if you have a new projector,a new washingmachine,

the toaster and a new pair of shoes ) lol!

Enjoy! But don't forget to rent/buy some WAF-Movies too ;-)

I'm in the same situation -- impulsed ordered an Lt150 yesterday morning and worried all day what the wife would say. I went home and said "Guess what I bought another projector today"! My wife gave me a big hug and said "I so happy for you" and walked away -- I couldn't believe it! I didn't have to explain anything...the price..the deal..the Dell scam? I just hope I get a projector now!

Seriously, my wife sort of did the same thing. I just bought my LP350 a few months ago (and paid a *lot* more for it than $1700) and we're still sort of reeling from that, not to mention the wedding. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif I had no intention of getting in on this deal, even as good as it was, until I told my wife about it. She encouraged me and I went ahead and jumped in head first.


I haven't figured out yet exactly what she wants, but I know it's something...

I also was startled by my wife's reaction. We have a Toshiba

TW56x81 in our home theater, and just 1 month ago, I bought a RCA F38310 for our living room. She thought I was crazy. Now, I do something stupid and buy a LT150 with nowhere to put it?? She said "sounds like a great deal! When will we get it? I was speechless, I was ready to beg for forgivness and try to justify the purchase. But she is as excited as i am. Go figure....

The WIFE humour on the forum is hilarius and genuine and warm at the same time, and always worth the price of admission. Haven't many of us been in some part of it at one time or another? The good thing is that it's easier to have wives come to enjoy this particularly male entertainment Home Theater experience, than having them come to really enjoy MNF on ABC.
