Currently, I'm running a simple stereo system on my HTPC which is great for music, but not so good for movies. Hence, i want to upgrade to a proper 5.1 system, but keep the current stereo monitor speakers for music.

Currently, the HTPC is connected to an old Denon amp. via an analog audio signal, powering to monitor speakers. If possible, i would like to get an optical connected amp (we are having problems with feedback loops within the power net), which is then connected to a 5.1 system and the 2 monitor speakers (switchable output). Perfect would be a set including wireless rear speakers.

Concerning price i would like to stay

Maybe someone can give me some tips how to solve this in general ? The problem I'm seeing is, that most 5.1 (HT)PC Speaker system are using internal amplifiers where it is not easily possible to add a second set of speakers. Is this (still) true ? Are there companies using more accessible amps ? Or can i get something like an Optical-Analog converter with optical pass through ?
