I have a Chaintech Av-710 and was able to get bit-perfect output. But it messed up sound for Zoomplayer, PowerDVD and with WINdvd I could only set it to Stereo 2 channel. *For more details on waht it did see the last page of the ENVY thread


Because my HTPC is my DVD player I had to go back to my original config. Any suggestions on a good winamp plugin to improve my sound over what I am currently using, which is WMP9?


Once I figure out what is causing my DVD players to go crazy Ill switch back to Bit-perfect but until then I am looking for something to tide me over...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe #008 ASIO Plug For Winamp 2&5 V0.44 - http://www.x-sound.com/b5/005/index.htm . Recommended I also read your post at the Envy24HT-S thread .


ASIO4ALL should work for XP if you did drop the .dll into your %systemroot% folder. This thread might also help .


Did you also read Igthorn's post at the Envy24HT-S thread ? If you don't like Winamp, there's always Foobar. Or try a Google or AVS search...

I didnt add the .dll to %systemroot% does that make a difference?


Thanks RayL for the suggestions. I was really at a deadend, much appreciated. I will work on this tonight and tommorrow and see what I can come up with. I'll post my results on the main Envy Thread.

Interesting, seems Igthorn's being very creative! Not sure if you saw this thread - I got Kernel Streaming working with graphedit, KS is possible with AVIs . Like darklordjames said, seems "Igthorn got Kernel Streaming working with videos!"


I don't have the Chaintech or Prodigy cards, but DirectSound & KMixer used to be such a PITA that I seem to have a "knee jerk" reaction when someone even whispers ASIO or WDM/KS... IMO, this past year MUCH progress has already been made. Later this year Intel Azalea (or High Definition Audio) should arrive. Hopefully (and I think I trust them) MS and sound card makers are also getting ready...

I am excited about Azalea. I bought the Av-710 about 6 months ago without knowing any of thsi stuff! Imagine me surpurise reading the Envy thread one day!
