Hey guys Ive searched a while here and can't seem to find someone looking for the same idea as me. So sorry if it has been asked before.

My current setup is a Yamaha htrn5060 with bose am15 speakers plus another klipsch 12" sub.

Im looking for a better reciever that has 4 or more HDMI inputs (ps3, xbox, sat box and a streaming media player), at least one component input with spdif (another sat box), and no video up-converting. It seems everyone I look at has the up-converting and to me thats a waste of money for my set-up.

It would be nice to stay in the 500-600 price range, and I'm not too picky as to who makes it.

Thanks guys

are you looking for an AVR without up-converting because you would rather have this happen outside your AVR (i.e. TV or external device), or is it just because you see this as an unnecessary expense? if the latter, I don't think it really makes a difference. This feature is pretty much a standard once you hit certain price points. If you don't want video processing, you have to step down to the lower-end AVRs, which means giving up other features, such as power, audio formats or HDMI inputs. Its sort of like saying "I want to spend $30K on a car, but I don't want to waste money on power windows." Instead, just focus on the best AVR you can get with your budget. Also, regarding HDMI inputs, remember that if a model meets all your needs, but comes up short on the HDMI inputs, you can easily solve that problem with an HDMI switch.

I'm glad this question was posted because I was wondering the same thing myself. I spent a good deal of money on my 46" LCD and I like the way upscaled output looks. I'd rather not have other pieces of equipment mess with the picture first. That being said, I would like to compare the ability of my TV to scale my Nintendo Wii's 480p output to that of the mid-line AVRs out there.

Thanks guys. I just don't see it as something I need so I was curious as to if there was a higher end model without it for a litle bit cheaper.

There is a guy trying to sell a 1018. I've read a bit about it, but he wants 650 bucks for it. Short one HDMI input, but that can be fixed. I dunno if I should jump on it or let it go. Seems a little steep.

Edit: Locally in Canada
