I'm decorating a condo that is ultra modern (very little furniture with very clean lines. Minimalist) look. I have a samsung 40 inch led lcd hung over a fireplace with orb audio speakers in Mod1/Mod2 center configuration. I am looking for a receiver to drive these. The homeowner has 0 tech savvyness so it doesn't have to be the best; just passable in terms of sound. It does, however, need to look amazing. The receiver will be on a glass stand next to the modern fireplace and it's one of the few pieces in the room so it needs to look unique almost art like. I like the look of the outlaw RR2150 stereo receiver but I need surround sound. What other companies are making receivers that look distinct and unique? Brushed steel is a plus but not absolutely necessary. Outlaw has some nice looking processor/amp combos (very retro modern) but they are out of the price range. Any ideas? I want to avoid the standard receiver look that everyone makes.

harmon kardon, like the 254 or 354 will do the trick. if its in my place is has to be uber clean and a good plus is that is sounds great. they are coming out with a new firmware update this week (just talked to them) that will correct a number of known issues

NAD and Rotel tend to look a bit different than the Japanese models.

Note that some Japanese models also come with a silver rather than a black scheme.

A lot of the Onkyo receivers come in silver... I just sold this one.

What is your price range? Harmon/Kardon are very good looking for little money as suggested. When you get up to $1500 or more there are a ton of options.
