Better deal than the s3300.

10% Turkey Days sale lowers the price to $305. Another $10 off for joining clubonkyo brings it to $295.

Why is the s5300 better than the s3300?

1. 7.1 vs 5.1

2. powered subwoofer vs passive sub

3. includes iPod dock

4. 4 HDMI inputs vs 3

5. Binding post speakers terminals instead of cheap spring clips

6. Better version of Audyssey room calibration software

The number of reviews indicating issues with the firmware and the need to ship the unit to onkyo for an update turned me off of the 5300.

20% off

total cost would be $239 plus you get a $10 for first time Club Onkyo purchase. $229shipped. Not bad at all! Comes with iPod dock and speakers stands too.

The receiver is the TX-SR606.

That's actually an incredible deal for under $250!

I'm really interested in these deals as well...

Is the hts3300 worth buying?

I want to use it for my samsung 40" lcd

xbox 360/ps3/cable box/wii

I would also like to use it with my computer

it's just going to be in my room for now and later in an apartment living room.

I'd really only like to spend 300 or so right now and possible upgrade anything I can on it in the future. Is this a good buy is there something better?

thanks a lot!

Just checked and the 7100 is already gone. I bet they only had one. Either that or they realized the price was wrong. I guess it was too good to be true.

5300 is still a pretty good deal with the 20% discount. well under $300 after discounts.

It would be better than the 3300 because it comes with a powered subwoofer and a better receiver.

They may have corrected the firmware on the new ones they're shipping, as the issues first came out awhile ago. I can't imagine they'd keep producing flawed products knowing they'd have to eat the cost of servicing them again.

look at recent reviews at Amazon or even the replies in the Onkyo 5300 thread here.

Well, do you plan on using an older PS3 or do the decoding to LPCM in the Blu-ray player? If so, yes, find another product. If not, there's no need to have the firmware repaired. AFAIK, those who bitstream to the Onkyo don't have the issue.

Does the 20% not apply here? I can't get it to show up.
