yup an OEM PC from manufactures like Velocity Micro and upcomming Dell.

its a vista PC running cable card tuners as well as OTA tuners. You can run two cable card and two ATSC tuners in the one box.

The only downside is in order to get a PC like that you have to purchase it from the manufacture, can't build it yourself.

Edit: sorry I just re-read your post, and no there are NO cards that will do both in terms of premium cable HD. But there ARE cards like the Fusion, MyHD 130, Hd Homerun that are both a QAM tuner and an ATSC tuner in one device.

check out www.hdtvtunerinfo.com for a good list of hardware out there, and what your looking for is a QAM tuner.

OK, that's what I was afriad of

well it'll do un-encrypted HD, as well as un-encrypted digital SD, as well as ATSC OTA.

but you will still need an SD tuner if you want NTSC tuning.

I wonder about the Kworld cards. I believe one is on sale (the ATSC 115) at Fry's (at least here in Austin) this weekend.

According to Kworld's site, it allegedly does ATSC, NTSC and QAM.

I haven't heard of any PCI's doing cable cards to decrypt/decode encrypted HD channels. I couldn't imagine such a beast existing. (A cable card is almost the size of a PCI card.)

a cable card is the same size as a credit card (just a little thicker) ATI has both internal and external cable card tuners, though they are still both USB based.
