I will be integrating 2 channel higher end sound into mid fi home theater set up.

Really like the panny xr57 sound quality, but will be using seperate higher end amp for L_R mains so I need a receiver with good pre out capability.

Panny is good if you keep everything in digital domain, I've read analoge out not so good, any recomendations around $300-$400??

I may send signal through high end passive unit to a evs digital or bel canto 2 channel amp. . So my real question is would the pioneer uinits be any better?? Looks like Yamaha does not do much pre -out. What about JVC.

Video capability is secondary in importance.

Thanks!

Check out Yamaha HTR-5960 or Pioneer vsx-1016txv.

The Onkyo 703 has (what I think to be) clean pre-out connections also. No hissing, humming, or pops. It's about $450 though so a bit more than you wanted.

Also I saw this posted in another thread, but there is a Yamaha HTR-5790 receiver for $279.99 on uBid.com right now. It's manufacturer refurbished, but that was the flagship receiver offered at stores like Best Buy for $750-800 two years ago. Might be worth consideration.

where did you read that the analogue out on the Panny is not so good?

wherever it is, its a dodgy source, because there is no line level analogue out at all other than the subwoofer pre-out

anyhow, look @ Marantz too I the SR4001 on has pre-outs
