Sometime this year, I'm going to get 40" LED Samsung . I need space for a receiver, HTPC, cable box, PS3 and a Wii.


The fiance wants a wood cabinet. I want to hide the components from view, but still be able to use the remotes. I saw an IKEA hack where somebody made doors for a Besta unit, and used acoustic mat, it turned out rather nice. I don't want to get something from IKEA though.


Anything similar out there in the world? Or DIY sites about building such furniture? I have access to some tools, but I've never built furniture before.

A simple IR repeater solution, or an RF remote, can allow placement of the components out of sight. Just don't forget about air circulation / ventilation.
