Greetings flat panel folks!

I currently own and use a Sharp Aquos 46" LCD with an HD-DVR and Sharp BD-HD20 Blu-Ray player.

I'm looking for eye candy, something that is better. Sharper or crisper if you will. The one thing I notice about motion blur, is when a movie pans. The picture gets really blurry to my eyes.

The Sharp Aquos was the big move for my wife and I back in 2007 when I upgraded from my Sony Trinitron XBR 36" CRT. Man, the picture on that was amazing, but it weighed like 200 pounds and was almost as big as my living room. I really love the switch to flat panels.

My wife is very anti-change. She had said that our TV looked good enough and we didn't need to spend money on a flat panel. Oh boy, did she ever eat those words when we got the new TV. She was amazed, especially at HD programming and that made me happy. I am an audio/video junkie. I see the benefit to upgrade a lot of things. I love IMAX movies, where she says she can't tell the difference between IMAX and a regular movie screen. I don't think I could have watched Watchmen, Avatar or Star Trek in a normal theater. It is almost an aphrodisiac for me!

I'm now looking for that next step in quality. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

True, but I don't mind going to the IMAX theater. It's right up the street any way.

I was just looking for opinions if there is any major upgrade out there. I was looking at the Samsung 55" LED 8500. Need to know if an upgrade is really worth it.

Are you me in a parrallel universe? Holy crap:

- 35" Sony Trinitron upgrade to 46" Sharp Aquos. Check.

- WAF surpise, Check.

- HD-DVR, Check.

- BD Player, not yet, use WDTV Live.

- IMAX for Watchman, ST and Avatar. Check.

- Looking for new/additional TV. Check.

I too was leaning towards a new LED, and been eyeing the Sharp 700UN series getting good reviews. However, something that's different at this point from a few years ago is the prices on Plasmas.

I'm looking to slide the Sharp 46" to my son in college and pick up something new. There's a certain GPA he's got to reach to do so, but things are looking good for that to happen.

Sounds like you guys arent entrenched in a specific camp so why not try a plasma this time. The 09's are on for fantastic deals now and if you have the financial resources, Kuro is the ultimate but Samsung and Panasonic are fantastic too. Go check out a few showrooms.

I personally didnt like the Samsung LED 8 series. A Toshiba LED sitting beside one in a showroom made the SS look bad.

Any thoughts on this internet deal? A lot of people here seem to love the Kuro.
