Looking for upconverting dvd player with the same quality as the Oppo but

has HDMI for output. Rather not wait till Oppo releases the newer version of the current dvd player (nor do I want to use the dvi to hdmi cable either). Looking for something just as good at the same price or cheaper

Don't know of one. May I ask why you want HDMI, and DVI to HDMI isn't acceptable?
The Oppo and the Panasonic S97 or S77 has always been neck and neck in comparisons. There are users on both sides that prefer one over the other.
Sony DVP-NS75H

Given 30+ pages, few problems, and very inexpensive it's a good choice. Several current users have/had the Oppo & like the PQ on the Sony. No shift or MB issues.
You will likely want to go with the Panasonic S77/97 or the Sony NS75H if HDMI is a deal breaker for your DVD player purchase.

Cause I may need to get a hdmi switch as I only have one input

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

A DVI-HDMI cable from the Oppo should work fine with an HDMI switch.

Oh, so you're using HDMI for audio? The Oppo doesn't send audio over DVI.
Yeah, it'll be an issue for me if I have to use the adapter. Looks like the Sony should be good enough and cheaper. I can live without xvid support

HDMI sends BOTH audio and video over one cable. DVI sends ONLY video through it's cable. This is the same for every device has nothing to do with the Oppo not being able to do it.

Of course; I didn't mean to imply otherwise.
Valid point, OP.

Of course ... I use multiple DVI-HDMI cables connected to my monoprice 5x1 HDMI switch, it all works just fine. But if getting audio to your TV (or HT receiver) over HDMI is that important, the Opps isn't for you!

Of course, I'd argue that you can make do with a separate HDMI switch and separate (non-HDMI) HT receiver, and save money - but then of course you need a separate cable for audio!
