Looking to piece together for 2000

I'm not sure if this is the correct section to ask this but the other sections go over specific areas.

I have seen some decent HTiB units but sinking 1k on one of these units doesn't seem like the correct thing for me to do. I haven't found one that gave me the chest thumping experience that want.

I would be using the setup for 99% movies 1% music and I'm looking to spend 2k out the door with nothing else to buy. I have listened to every model in the large chain stores and I can say, I am not impressed with the HTiB units.

My current setup consists of A Samsung LN52A750, which I fell in love with in the store and find myself loving this display more and more as the time passes. My sound system consists of a Creative Labs 5.1 system that I have hooked up to my computer system. The sound is lacking in a bad way and I need something that will compliment the beautiful picture that I have in my living room.

My living room is 28' X 14'. The couch that I normally watch from is about 20' from my TV.

I am running a PS3 80gig for my Blue Ray player, Dish Network and have had this setup for about a year and a half or so.

I have looked at different receivers and speakers and I am defiantly interested in floor speakers because of the amount and size of the drivers that can fit into them, I have noticed a big difference in the overall feel of the environment that they generate. The receiver, on the other hand, I cannot for the life of me figure out which one to get.

Any help would be great.

Thank you.

Start in the speaker section. That will be where most of your budget will be spent. Your front three speaker will be the most important followed by the subwoofer. Most of your budget should go there. Surrounds can cost much less. Try to match the front 3 as much as possible, same brand and same series if possible. Once you have decided on speakers and sub, you should look for a receiver. Unless you choose really power hungry speakers, the $500 range AVR's should serve all of your needs.
I have been looking at these http://www.axiomaudio.com/m80.html

However I do not know if i need to buy 2 good towers and a decent receiver or to get a 5.1 system complete for 2k.

I cant really spend over 2k. On that note I don't really like to buy and replace so if I can buy really good stuff and add on later that is an option but I dont want to feel like I left something out either when I spend that much money.

I dont mind spending less on the receiver because I feel receivers are technology based and can/will be replaced in the future anyway.

As you can tell I am a complete noob.

It seems a lot of people question the use of 2 tweeters in those Axioms. You can search the speaker section to read more.

Is there a reason you are set on towers? Your budget will go much further with bookshelves and a good subwoofer and for 99% movie watching you probably won't miss towers.

Start reading through the Speaker section. There's tons of info.
