I'd an IN72 while my friend still has an IN76, so I'm familiar w/ the strengths and weaknesses.
My other DLP was a Mitsu hc3000, so I'm comfortable recommending the HC3800, though sight unseen for less $$$. For LCD, I'd an Epson 400, so I'm comfortable with their refurbished or new 8500UB lines or the Mitsu 6800.
AVS has a special closed out deal on JVC RS10 or RS20. I'm biased since I do have the RS2, LCOS technology. It's close to CRT black w/o using dynamic iris. The color might be a bit strong for some people; its CMS is one of the few weaknesses, a huge beast.
