Greetings All

This is my first post here in these forums. I'm looking to upgrade my speaker system to something a little more modern. I currently have an old Energy E-Sat set of speakers including the passive sub-woofers. I also have a Samsung HD TV (37"), a Yamaha HTR-6140 AV receiver and a Samsung BD-P1500 blue-ray player.

The above mentioned E-Sats speakers are almost 20 years old and I want to upgrade to something better and more modern. My current budget will be around $500 for new speakers. The room that this system will be located in is 21'x22'.

Right now, I've looked at the following speaker packages

KEF Kht1005.2 5.1 Sattelite Subwoofer Speaker Package

Energy Take Classic 5.1 5.1CH Premium Home Theater System

Polk Audio RM510 5.1CH High Performance Surround Sound Speaker System

LOL, I can handle my own when it comes to computers and the hardware that goes with building them, but I get lost quite easily when trying to choose what kind of audio hardware to pick such as speakers.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

all the speakers you mentioned are small "satellite" type speakers, useful in a den or small bedroom. They will be severely challenged in a 21x22' room. Are "small" speakers a requirement ?

Yes, small speakers are kinda required for this room.
