Looking to upgrade on a budget. Opinions?

I'm just getting back into this hobby, and I feel I need to upgrade my speakers. I have an old crappy JBL center that fell off the TV and broke. I had to break out the wood glue to get it back together. :) My fronts are some crappy Sony floorstanders that ran me about $100 for the pair a few years ago. I'm looking to replace all 3, but I want to keep it under $500. I listen to a 80/20 split of movies/music.

I will be running these off a Sony DA4ES. For now I have a MTX powered sub, it isnt that great and will upgrade sometime in the future. Rears are cheap Sony bookshelfs that will also be replace in the future, just looking to upgrade the front right now.

So what would you all recomend?

If you do a search on this forum for '$500' in Titles, you'll get several threads that may answer your questions, or at least get you started.
You could try the new SVS 5-speaker setup. Without a sub it's about $549 for the 5 speakers ( http://www.svsound.com/products-sys-sbs.cfm ). Note that this doesn't include stands or shipping.

Fluance ( www.fluance.com ) also has some pretty decent budget speakers. My father recently picked up some towers, a center, and bipolar surrounds, along with a Dayton 12". We're heading home for Christmas, so I'll get so see how his dedicated room sounds.
Cyberbri I would be very interested in how the Bipolar speakers sound. Could you report on these please. Would be much appreciated.

I'll be doing a write-up in the near future on the speakers.

The 3-way AV-F3 mini-towers are actually very nice. The center and biplolar surrounds also do a nice job. I'll have to get some more movie listening in to judge the surrounds better, but they seem like a good deal for the price. I know the AV-F3 are performing very well (listened to a lot of music on them), and I'm sure the other speakers sound great as well. You sure can't beat the price vs quality/performance on these.
