Okay! The official dates to look out for are August 26th for the 2-disc theatrical cut, and November 16th for the 4-disc extended edition. (Announcement is at The Digital Bits)

The stuff for the 2-disc edition is already exciting and "seems" to be not as fluffy as FOTR's 2-disc edition. But who knows?

I'm sure many people would be waiting for the EE. I'm gettin' both version and I hope that there will be three audio commentary tracks, DD EX 5.1, DD 2.0 and DTS ES 6.1 Discrete for the 4-disc edition.

August, November and December just can't come too soon!

I hope it's an EE without too much EE...

I have decided against buying the first release. I'll view the HD-PPV edition, but will wait for the extended to buy the film on DVD. The extended Fellowship is so outstanding and superior to the theatrical version (which was also outstanding) that I now don't even view my 1080i D-VHS recorded version of the 3 hour film! I won't make the same mistake twice.
