Just got a Radeon 5450 card in the mail today and am having some difficulty getting lossless audio working.

Here is the setup

Win 7 32 bit

ATI Radeon 5450 (latest drivers as of 2/22)

Arcsoft TMT 3 (.160 release)

Receiver Pioneer 1018ah-k (connected via hdmi)

Sanyo PLV-Z2000 projector

ASUS 24" 1080p Display

I got this video card to replace an Nvidia 9500gt for the fact that the ATI card supposedly supports TrueHD and DTS Master.

Sound is working fine but upon playing a couple Blu Rays (Wolverine & Body of Lies) I can't get lossless audio working.

The sound works fine but the Pio just displays Dolby PLIIX when playing audio. TMT3 is set to 7.1 in the audio menu. I've set the audio on the disc to play TrueHD (or DTS Master).

However the display on the Pio doesn't change showing TrueHD or DTS Master when the discs are playing. Can someone point me in the right direction? Am I missing something?

Thanks for the info and the link. I'll give it a shot tonight and post my results. The auto update didn't pick up the .170 release but i'm guessing that is because it is still in beta.

Installing 170 patch , did not help.

In Tmt3 set audio to HDMI and dolby digital mixing.

You need to have it set to Primary Audio Track (not in front PC, believe thats the wording), Digital Mixing will downmix audio to DD. There are times, even set at primary audio you may still to go to audio options while the movie playing and select different audio track.. not sure if it's unique to my system, but happens quite a few movies.

wanted to post an update.

updated TMT3 to .170 (audio set to hdmi and primary audio)

playing transformers revenge of the fallen

- in settings, set audio to english 5.1 dts-hd master audio

set pio to DTS

when playing the movie, DTS hd-mstr shows up on the pio display.

seems like it is working, but haven't had a chance to do a good critical listen to see if i can hear the difference.

for me, updating to .170 seemed to do the trick, thanks!

i'll try a couple more movies another night (gotta get up early tomorrow) and post back on True-hd.

I tried once more this Concert David Gilmour DVD disk play in TMT3

The trueHD does not work.

In TMT there are two audio tracks , one is LPCM2.0 stereo and other dolbydigital trueHD.

When I switch to track two which is for trueHD and set the mixing to

"Using primary audio" all I get is loud static noise.

Any other idea?

do you have a disc to check that has DTS Master HD? if that works it would help isolate the problem to the process of True HD.

If you have Realtek as your hdmi device you should uninstall it and use the ATI Hdmi device that comes with 10.2.

Thank you Davinleeds

Yes , I use realtek HDMI.

So how this ATI HDMI works? will I be able to switch between speakers and HDMI out ? I need to have that option.

Where do I find this ati HDMI in 10.2?

Thank you

It should have installed along with your Catalyst version. I don't know where to find it, but if you uninstall the Realtek audio it should default to it. Which Catalyst did you install for the 5450?

Right click speaker icon at lower right and select playback devices. This is where you should set default audio devices and configure speaker settings along with bitrate and bitsample. It's important it's set up correctly.
