One of the many features in Windows Media Player 9 is support for a lossless codec. This is a good idea but I assume there are quite a few people like myself out there that have their media collection stored and tagged in Monkey's Audio format.

In case you want to move to Windows Media player but have been hesitant to do so since you could not figure out how to convert all your material and preserve the tags here is a solution.

Get the dBpowerAMP Music Converter at

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

and also download the codec support for APE and WMA from the same site.

FLAC, Shorten, WAVpack, and OptimFrog are also supported but I have not tested them.

After installation you can transcode your files from APE to lossless WMA format in one simple step keeping the tag information intact. Quite nice and free.

Cheers
