My current configuration:

57" sony rear projection tv (dvi capable, but running progressive)

Yamaha htr-5590 6.1 receiver

2 - (1, 4, 6, 12") mains - 12" are 200watt self powered (lfe capable but not utilized)

2 - (1, 4, 5 1/4") centers

2 - (1, 4, 8") surrounds

12" 400watt self powered subwoofer using LFE cable

Sony nc875 dvd changer using optical cable for audio

***i've been considering purchasing a denon for dvd-a***

I've checked and rechecked forums, and read as much as I can understand about setting up my audio to it's maximum potential, but there is information i seem to be missing (or don't fully understand) and i cannot get tech support from the various companies to respond (except sony).

Yamaha's cutoff for setting speakers to "small" is 90hz vs full range for "large" - Sony's is 120 hz for small vs full range for large

My questions are as follows:

1. does the receivers speaker settings override any dvd player settings,? if not should i set the dvd player to large and the receiver to small?

2. What is "full range" (does that include LFE range even if the receiver is telling the low freq's to go only to the sub and not both)

3. If I am not using LFE for my main speakers, does the 200 watt's still get utilized or am i running all four speakers one the output from the receiver?

What i really want to know is what speaker settings to utilize for the receiver and dvd player to maximize the capabilities without overworking my main speakers so that i lose out on sound. Thank you in advance for any help given. Links are appreciated

1. Your DVD player’s settings will have no affect because you’re using the digital output.

2. “Full Range†means the low frequencies will NOT be removed from the sound channel in question and given to the LFE channel. The LFE channel won’t be routed to the other channels.

3. I don’t know how your speakers are designed.
